The rest of our time in Utah/Saying goodbyes

Jamie and her parents invited me to go to the temple with them the day after she got home. We went to a session in the Mount Timpanogos Temple, Jamie's favorite temple. I realized that the two times I've gone to the temple without J.J. were with Jamie at the Mount Timpanogos Temple. (We went to the temple together a couple weeks before Allisyn was born- it was Jamie's second time ever to go to the temple.)

Beth babysat Allisyn while I went to the temple with Jamie and her parents.
Alli ate some toast with nutella- yum!
After the temple, Alli and I went to the Williams' to hang out. We wanted to work on getting Allisyn comfortable with Jamie, and we figured out the perfect way! We watched Tangled- Alli's favorite movie, and the first movie Jamie watched since coming home. Alli sat between Jamie and me on the couch and ended up snuggling next to her. :) Later that evening, J.J. came over after work and we ate dinner with everyone.

On Thursday, Allisyn and I picked up Jamie and then we drove to Provo to meet up with Beth, Brea, and Addie. We ate lunch at Slab Pizza...yummy!

The girls had a lot of fun playing with each other

Best friends since freshman year!
These girls made my first year of BYU bearable.
After lunch, we went to Brea's apartment for a little bit. When it was time for Allisyn, Jamie, and I to leave, it also meant it was time to say goodbye to Brea and Addie since we wouldn't see them again before we left.

The girls hugged each other!! It was so sweet.
I'm glad they were able to play together a lot the last few months.
On Friday, we went to Temple Square to say hang out/say goodbye to the van Uiterts. We didn't realize until going through these pictures that we didn't get a picture with them. But I promise they were there!

When we asked Allisyn where the temple was, she always pointed right to it. :)
Splashing in the "wa-wa."
Proof the van Uiterts were there- Catherine and Sammy,
Bert's arm is on the side of the picture.
Alli and I had fun looking for "birdies" all over Temple Square.
Saturday was our last day before we left Utah. The three of us drove down to see my Grandma Wake one last time before moving.

Grandma, Allisyn, me
And then Allisyn and I went to Jamie's house for dinner. Beth came too. It was great to spend some time with all of us before I moved away.

I love both of these pictures. I'm so lucky to have great friends who are also awesome "aunts" to Allisyn.

Saying goodbye to Beth and Jamie was really hard. I definitely cried a ton, and continued to cry in the car on my drive back to my grandparents. I miss them a lot, but luckily we text all the time and we also can call each other and Skype. So it'll be okay.

The next day we loaded up the car, said goodbye to my grandparents (but we'll see them soon for my brother's graduation), and drove down to Provo to attend church in our ward one last time.

Ilarene and Jason went to church with us because it's now their ward (they moved into our old apartment). After church, we stopped at their/our apartment to pick up our mail and say goodbye to them. They've been good friends to us. I've known Ilarene since sophmore year when we were roommates (along with Jamie). They've babysat Allisyn for us and I've loved going out to lunch with Ilarene and Allisyn. I am so excited that they're having a little baby boy. I just know he's going to be adorable. I wish I could be there to meet him when he's born, but at least I'll be able to see pictures and Skype and stuff. :)

After leaving their place, we went over to Trent and Nadia's to say goodbye to them as well. It's sad that we won't be living close to them anymore. But at least we'll see them in a couple of weeks for my sister-in-law's graduation!

We hit the road for Texas right after saying goodbye to Trent and Nadia. But I'll make our trip a separate post.

Jamie came home!

(Thanks for letting me steal all of these pictures, Beth!)

My best friend Jamie has been on a mission in Peru (the Peru Chiclayo mission) for the last 18 months. I definitely missed her so much while she was gone, but I loved writing and emailing her and seeing how much she's grown and changed. Her weekly emails were always fun to read!

We found out a while ago that she would be arriving back in Utah on May 1st. J.J. and I decided to postpone leaving Utah until after she came home. I am so glad we were able to do that because it would have been devastating to leave and not see her.

To be honest, the closer her homecoming day came, the more nervous I became. We hadn't seen each other in 18 months. Both of us had changed. And I was leaving Utah just 5 days after she'd get home. I was worried that those 5 days wouldn't be long enough for us to get back to the way we were before she left, and since I wouldn't be around to hang out with her in person after that, then maybe we wouldn't be great friends anymore. The thought of that happening made me so sad.

But I am happy that this wasn't the case. I felt like the moment we hugged each other for the first time in 18 months, things went back to normal. Of course there were some differences, mainly the fact that Jamie had difficulties speaking English again! Haha. :)

Allisyn had fun exploring the airport with Daddy
while we waited for Jamie to arrive.

Her flight is 3rd from the top- she landed!!

She's really here!!

Allisyn was very concerned about everyone crying.
I tried to explain that they were "happy crying," but I don't think she understood. :)

Yay!! I'm hugging Jamie!

Seeing Allisyn for the first time in 18 months- Alli was just 2 months old when Jamie left.

After seeing Jamie at the airport, all of us were invited to eat at Cafe Rio with the Williams family. Cafe Rio was the last place Jamie went before reporting at the MTC, and it was the first place she wanted to go to after getting home. And since I love Cafe Rio, I definitely didn't mind! (Actually, it was Jamie and Beth who introduced me to Cafe Rio in the first place, so it was great to go with them one last time before we moved.)

Allisyn loves the Cafe Rio dressing- like Mommy, like daughter.
(I craved this dressing all the time during my pregnancy with
Allisyn, so maybe that has something to do with it.)

Yay for eating Cafe Rio again after 18 months!
Ilarene couldn't come to the airport because she was teaching, but she met us at Cafe Rio. Not only was that day Jamie's first time to see Alli since she was a tiny baby, but it was her first time to see Ilarene's adorable baby belly!! :) (I'm actually so jealous that Jamie gets to hang out with Ilarene after her baby boy is born. I wish I could meet him too!)

Best friends together at last :)

After graduation/moving

After graduation, the last of the packing and tons of cleaning ensued. Luckily Beth was so amazing and came over two entire days to help me out. I couldn't have done it without her!

On Wednesday the 25th, we finally moved out the rest of our stuff. It ended up being a lot more emotional for me than I had anticipated. After loading up my Grandpa's pickup truck for the last time, I felt really drained and stressed out. Beth had a genius idea and suggested we go out to lunch and get away from the apartment for a bit. We went to Cafe Rio, one of my favorite places to eat in Provo. (Side note: I'm already missing it!!) It was such a break for me and then afterward, Beth played with Allisyn while I took a little nap in our closet (it was the darkest place in the apartment since all the curtains were gone).

The rest of that night, I cleaned up the apartment (and J.J. did too once he got home from work). Angela and her new boyfriend also came over and helped us out. And then we packed up our car and left our apartment for the last night. We went to my grandparents' house where we stayed for the next week and a half.
