At home with my girl

I love having the opportunity to spend so much time with Allisyn. I'm so glad I can be home with her. I hope I'll always be able to stay at home with her (and our other kids once we have them).

Here are some fun pictures of the adventures Alli and I had on Monday (the 23rd).

When Alli woke up, she decided it would be fun to lick the screen of her pack n' play.

Goofball!

After her nap, I helped Alli stand up in her bed. She loved it!

Lunch time! Isn't that toothy grin just to die for?! :)

I made macaroni noodles for me, so I shared with Alli.

She really enjoyed it!

I think she especially enjoyed the mess she made!

By the end of lunch, she was in definite need for a bath!
Isn't she the cutest messy girl?

  2. Out of curiosity, not judgment, why go to college if you don't plan on working?

That's a very good question. Getting an education is something that has always been important to me, but so has being a mom. I've always wanted to be a mom and to stay at home with my children. Even if I don't ever "use" my bachelor's degree by having a career, the knowledge I gain at school will help me be a better mother. I will be better able to teach my children, and I will be a great example to them of how important education is. They will always know that their mom went to college and that she believes it is important to always be learning.

Another reason, although not necessarily more important, is that I want to be prepared to enter the workforce if necessary. For many of my growing up years, my mom had to work outside of the home until my dad made enough money for her to be able to stay home with us. She always had the desire to be at home, but circumstances did not allow it until I was about 11 years old. Because she had a college education, she was able to find good jobs and was very successful.

Hopefully, my husband and I will be able to work things out so that I won't have to work (or just from home), but I don't know what the future holds for us. There may be a time that we need a second income to survive, or I may have to provide the only income. Because I will have a degree, I will be able to find a better job than I would be able if I only had my high school diploma.

One of my friends from BYU wrote a viewpoint article in our school newspaper. She did a great job explaining why getting a degree is important even if you're not planning on working.

I hope this answers your question. Feel free to ask me more questions if you want.
